Spain On Alert Before EU Role Begins

Spain has raised its terror alert level to two on a four-point scale, as it prepares to assume the six-month presidency of the EU on Friday.

Earlier, Spain's interior minister warned that the Basque separatist group Eta might attempt a kidnapping to get publicity for its cause.

"There is a probable risk of an attack," Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba said on Monday.

Eta has waged a 41-year campaign for an independent Basque homeland.

Please note the word terror is the wording of the Spanish fascist government and BBC News, and not my own. I certainly do not regard Eta or any other Basque resistance fighters as terrorists.
I hope the 6 month Presidency of the EU gravy train will be made very difficult for them by the brave Basque volunteers, and that the injustice of Spanish imperialism is made plain for all to see.
The arrest of Arnaldo Otegi, other Batasuna members, Segi activists and ordinary trade unionists are all a stain on the record of the reign of President Zapatero, who's party dare to still call themselves 'Socialist Workers'.
