UDA 'To Confirm Weapons Dump'

The Ulster Defence Association (UDA) is expected to announce on Wednesday that it has put its weapons beyond use.

The loyalist paramilitary group has five weeks to meet the government's 9 February deadline to complete the decommissioning of its weapons.

Once this amnesty ends, any UDA weapons discovered by police would be forensically tested and evidence could be used in future court cases.

It is understood the UDA leadership put its weapons beyond use in recent weeks.

This is nothing but good news for all Irish people and for those many, many people effected by UDA sectarian violence and criminality over the last 4 decades.
Only being banned in 1992 (!) and they were armed and supported by the British Intelligence services while they were committing the murders of Socilitor Pat Finucane, Councillor Eddie Fullerton and countless others. They have also damaged their own community with internal feuding, drug dealing and racketeering.
I sincerley hope that this bold move is indeed genuine and we will see if it is in the coming months. With factions and feuds within the UDA structure who even knows if the entire organisation are following this act?
Whatever happens, those affected by collusion and sickened by its results will never stop their honourable and brave search for justice.
